What does colour mean to you?

Colour and shape have been a big part of my life since I was little. There are artists in the family both on my mother's side and father's side, so i have grown up with oil paints, watercolours and coloring books. You could almost say that the aesthetics runs in my blood. I use colours to express myself in both my paintings with illustrations and in my interior decorating. Colour means so much that I'm now training to become a certified colourist.

How do you fill the everyday with colours?

-

It can be something simple like putting on a pair of yellow trousers on a Monday, treating myself with a colourful bouquet in the middle of the week or putting on red lipstick when going to school. You don't need that much to feel refreshed and colourful, especially not in February.

-

Is there anything that definitely cannot be in colour – in that case what?

-

No, I don't think so. everything is about what kind of friends that colour has in its surroundings. I could actually say that all colour can look good in the right context and with the right complement.

-

Which colour do you like the most vs the least?

-

My favourite colour is green. It's a colour that looks good in almost every nuances. I think I have at least 30 nuances of green on various interior design details and furniture in my home (kitchen cabinets and the stairs included). I have noticed recently that i also like to choose green clothes.

Someone told me that you are drawn towards colours which reflects your personality, this according to the DISC-method. I don't know if that's correct but I am a very green person there as well...

It's more difficult to mention a colour that I don't like. I try to enjoy every colour, but I'm not so keen on really strong colours like cerise pink for example.

I try to have a red thread that follows all colouring in my whole home. A tip is to start with a colour palette you like. Then you create unity in your home and nearby rooms harmonize with each other.

Which is the most stylish colour according to you?

I must answer blue on this. It's a colour which feels elegant and stylish through all times. Think royal blue, velvet blue and sapphire. So stylish and classy!

Many people think that colour can feel a little “Pippi Longstocking” – how do you create stylish interior decorating with colours?

I think you should avoid too colourful colours, at least when it comes to walls, woodwork and other permanent installations in your home. Think more abour "laid back" colours, like pastels or nuances with more blackness. Colours that simple aren't too strong. Then you can pop up the place with a colourful couch, rug, curtain or something like that. If you think that's too much you can go for smaller details like a vase or cushion etc. Another tip is to decorate with colours in a colour scheme which harmonizes with each other, that feels good for the eyes (and the soul).

Which is the most colourful place you have visited?

-

Ah difficult to say! There are so many beautiful and brilliant places in the world. But one of them is Portofino. I just say WOW! A fantastically, lovely and colourful fishing village just by the sea in northern Italy. We went there the days afte rour wedding and had a magical time.

-

When people come to your home what do you want them to feel? How do you create that feeling?

-

I want them to feel at home. That you should be able to crash on the sofa and cuddle with the dogs, have something nice to drink from the fridge, connect your favourite music to sonos and be one of us. We love to have friends and family visiting. Then we usually cook food together. I light candles throughout the apartment, out on my soul playlist and we drink red wine while playing games.

-

Which is your favourite room at home – and why?

-

It's our bedroom. When we renovated the apartment, our current bedroom was two rooms. We took aways the middle wall and made one big room instead. Totally the best idea! Now we have almost 25 square meters, it's airy, we have a lot of space for storage and the wallpaper is a real favourite. Now we only miss a more luxurious bed , it's on the wishlist.

-

Who is the most colourful person you know?

-

I must say it's my friend Hanna Östberg (@hannasanglar), except for being inspirational person, she also inspires me to dare to use more colours and fun colour combinations. She achieves a unique effect when she mixes colours with pattern on various surfaces.

You work as an interior decorator, what’s most asked for in your styling work today?

-

Many want to add more colour in their homes than they did before. We have gone to white to grey to beige, and many want to test new colours both on walls and when decorating. I think that's great! Besides that, we get a lot of questions about lighting, furnishing and "how to make it cozy" in different rooms. Big question in themselves but it's really super-fun that many want to get help from interior decorators, in their own homes as well as where they work.

-

When you decorate with colour, how do you think about scales and tones? Is it important that they match and harmonize?

-

I try to have a red thread that follows all colouring in my whole home. A tip is to start with a colour palette you like. Then you create unity in your home and nearby rooms harmonize with each other. It's very relaxing for the eyes. This colour palette can with advantage be used to paint walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, lamps and interior design details.
